Organizing an event is not just about creating the page, sharing it, and hoping people show up. The real moment happens at the door: when people arrive, names need to be checked, and sometimes someone shows up who wasn’t on the list.
That is why Matoo now has Event Attendee Check-In.
This new feature gives event organizers a simple way to manage attendance during an event.
When an event is in progress, organizers can open the Check In Attendees panel directly from the event page. Inside, they will see a clean list of attendees, with each person shown alongside a checkbox. As people arrive, the organizer can quickly mark them as present.

The attendee count updates as check-ins happen, so it is always clear how many people are currently present.

Walk-ins Are Supported too
Events are social, and real life is rarely perfectly planned.
Sometimes someone brings a friend. Sometimes a person arrives who forgot to register. Sometimes the organizer simply needs to add someone on the spot.
At the bottom of the check-in list, there is now an Add walk-in attendee option. Clicking it opens a small form where the organizer can enter the person’s name and, optionally, their email address.
Once added, the walk-in attendee appears in the same list and can be checked in like everyone else.

After the Event
If a walk-in attendee was added with an email address, Matoo will use that information after the event ends. They will be added to the platform as a pending user and receive an invitation to complete their registration.
This makes it easier for organizers to grow their community naturally without turning check-in into admin work.
The final check-in view keeps the experience simple, with registered attendees, walk-ins, and the attendance count all in one place.

And Why this Matters to Organizers
Matoo is being built around real events, real people, and real community moments.
A good event platform should not only help people discover events. It should also support what happens when people actually show up. And with attendee check-in, organizers now have a smoother way to manage attendance, welcome walk-ins, and keep the event flow simple.
